Wolves Lose
I've decided that all of my posts will have the title from above until the Wolves actually manage to win a game.
I only saw the last 3 minutes of the NOK game the other day. I decided I needed to take a day off from watching them in order to regain my sanity. I got back just in time to see the Wolves take a 2-point lead into a 6-point loss.
I saw a bit of the interview with Casey after the game and he said that the Wolves played a lot better despite losing. Of course, anything would be better than that Utah game. As I left the stadium that night, I tried to think of anything good to say about the way the Wolves played, and I couldn't think of anything. There was absolutely nothing that they did well that night.
Looking at the box score from the NOK game, I'd have to say that Casey was right. The only thing the Wolves didn't do well was shoot. They outrebounded the Hornets by 19, they had 20 assists on 33 FGs, they had 11 blocked shots and only turned the ball over 14 times. Since I didn't see most of the game, I can't say whether our 41% shooting was due to bad shot selection or just bad luck, but in general, shooting percentage is more a factor of luck than a lack of playing well. Of course, based on how things have run lately, I'm tempted to say that they were just getting bad shots. But this is all conjecture.
We play the Raptors Monday. I don't know what I'm going to say if they lose. There's only so much cautious optimism I can write and still believe what I'm saying.
